Debt suitability

Which debts can Marshall Freeman collect?

Check before you enquire.

We help businesses with unpaid invoices for goods or services, including invoices owed by individuals. We don't collect personal loans.

The short answer

What we can and can't help with.

  • Business invoices we can help with

    • Unpaid invoices or statements for goods or services your business supplied
    • Customers that are businesses or individuals
    • Several smaller invoices, assessed on their combined value (50 invoices of $500 total $25,000)
  • Debts outside our service

    • Combined balances under $2,000
    • Personal loans, including money lent to friends or family
    • Court or tribunal orders
    • Tenancy related debts
    • Unreturned deposits

Questions about which debts we collect.

What if your customer is an individual?

Possibly. If your business supplied goods or services to them and the invoice is unpaid, that is a debt for goods or services, not a personal loan. Each debt is subject to our suitability checks.

Can you help with just one unpaid invoice?

Yes. We help businesses with one unpaid invoice or several, for goods or services supplied to businesses or individual customers. The combined balance must meet our minimum of $2,000.

Do you collect personal loans?

No. Money lent to a friend or family member, or a private loan between individuals, is a personal loan, and we don't collect them. We also don't collect court or tribunal orders, tenancy related debts or unreturned deposits.

How old can a debt be?

Time limits for recovering a debt depend on the state or territory and the circumstances, so we assess each case on its merits. Recent debts are usually the most successfully collected.
